About Filr
Filr is a collection of browser-based tools for converting, compressing, resizing, merging, splitting, and processing common file formats without making file conversion more complicated than it needs to be.
Why Filr
Many file utilities require uploading personal files to a server just to perform a simple conversion. Filr is designed differently: supported tools perform the work on your own device whenever practical.
Supported conversions run directly in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to a remote conversion server.
Filr is designed around focused tools that do one job clearly without unnecessary accounts, dashboards, or complicated workflows.
Image, PDF, audio, and video processing uses browser technologies such as Canvas, WebAssembly, PDF libraries, and FFmpeg where appropriate.
Filr focuses on practical everyday conversions across images, PDFs, audio, and video.
How it works
Filr uses different browser-local technologies depending on the tool. Images can be decoded and encoded with browser image APIs, PDFs can be processed with local PDF libraries, and compatible audio and video files can be handled with FFmpeg WebAssembly.
Some tools may download application code or WebAssembly components needed to perform the operation, but your selected source file is not part of that download request.
Growing toolkit
Filr currently includes tools for common image conversion and optimization, PDF creation and manipulation, audio conversion, video conversion, and video compression.
Keep expanding Filr with genuinely useful file tools while keeping the experience fast, understandable, and privacy-focused.
